What they say about London Arts Discovery in the UK

Theatre, Music & Festival Tours Feedback

"I always enjoy meeting up with the LONDON ARTS DISCOVERY groups when they visit us in Scarborough. Their informed enthusiasm is a joy. And a bit of bright, appreciative and constructive comment does us the world of good, too."
Sir Alan Ayckbourn
Playwright

"LONDON ARTS DISCOVERY offers an exemplary way of introducing people to theatre in Britain and creating relationships between US and UK theatre companies which we hope endure."
Sir Richard Eyre
Theatre Director and former Artistic Director of the Royal National Theatre (1987-1997)

" ... it is always a delight to get such informed and intelligent feedback. These programmes are a great way for Americans to come and see theatre over here and for me it is a joy to share in the enthusiasm."
Sir Derek Jacobi
Actor

"Through LONDON ARTS DISCOVERY I have had the opportunity to meet many colleagues working in theatres in the U.S., to exchange ideas and share problems. This is a valuable, and enjoyable, way of keeping the arts debate alive."
The Baroness McIntosh of Hurdnal
Former Executive Director of the Royal National Theatre

"LONDON ARTS DISCOVERY invariably selects an excellent blend of plays from the must-sees to the less obvious gems. I am always glad to be invited to participate in the impressive line-up of speakers and I hugely enjoy the lively and sometimes spirited sessions we have in our critical round-ups!"
Benedict Nightingale
Theatre Critic for The Times

Tours as development skills: What they say in the USA

"The Theatrical/Cultural European trips we do at MTC in conjunction with the superb LONDON ARTS DISCOVERY are beloved by our patrons and other trip participants. The program, which has grown to seven trips a year, is an indispensable aspect of the diversity MTC offers to its members and nets us over $50,000 in revenue per season. Many of our trip participants rejoin us time and again and have become high level donors due to the strong relationships that are formed as a result of travelling together with members of our creative and development teams."
Manhattan Theatre Club

"The results have surpassed my expectations. We have raised over $30,000 and this is one of the most important fund raisers we have. Not only that but the additional dollars I have raised through the good will created is hard to quantify. The trip provides me with the opportunity to get to know potential givers on a one to one basis - many participants on the tour have increased their personal giving just because they get closer to us. One couple told me on the last night of the trip that they were giving us a five year pledge of $25,000!"
Asolo Theatre Company

"A Weston Playhouse sponsored London Theatre Tour had long been my dream, but only when we partnered with London Arts Discovery did it become a reality. The program for each trip has continued to surpass my expectations, encouraging both repeat and new business. Our London tours have become invaluable tools for broadening and educating our audience and for building relationships with our donors . They are absolutely one of the highlights of our year."
Weston Playhouse

"We have fully enjoyed our relationship with LADT for over fifteen years. The knowledgeable guest speakers, critical round-up session and the "behind the scenes" visits greatly enhance the always excellent and varied line-up of new plays we see. Each year Geva's London theatre tour serves to strengthen relationships with our donors and gain new friends for our theatre."
Geva Theatre

"I have had wonderful experiences with London Arts Discovery. They have been running tours for Trinity Rep patrons for twenty years, and I've personally been on five trips with Richard Barran and his delightful group of guides. Each trip was a total success, both for me personally and for Trinity: our patrons have been unreserved in their praise. London Arts Discovery employs knowledgeable, gracious tour leaders who are as charming as they are informed. I recommend them unreservedly."
